Owatonna Community Solar Garden Celebrates Ribbon Cutting

Enterprise Energy gathered in Owatonna, Minnesota, to celebrate the ribbon cutting of the Owatonna Community Solar Garden, marking the completion of another community solar project in Minnesota.

The 5 MW DC solar garden will generate enough clean energy to serve approximately 2,000 homes while helping expand access to long-term energy savings for participating households.

“I think energy savings can’t come soon enough for many people,” said Enterprise Energy CEO Eric Pasi. “We’re in an energy affordability crisis right now in this country.”

For participating middle- and lower-income households, the project can provide energy-bill savings of approximately 15%, helping make the benefits of community solar more accessible to families across the region.

The ribbon cutting marks an exciting milestone for a project that moved from groundbreaking to completion in just a matter of months. More importantly, it reflects the work required to bring community-scale energy projects from development into operation.

MnCIFA Executive Director Pete Klein highlighted the broader potential of projects like Owatonna, saying, “This is absolutely going to be replicated throughout the state of Minnesota.”

A special shoutout to Cedar Creek Energy, MinnWest Bank, Sunrise Banks and the Minnesota Climate Innovation Finance Authority (MnCIFA) for their partnership and support in bringing the Owatonna Community Solar Garden project to life.
