llinois has been at the forefront of Enterprise Energy’s developmental activity in 2026, with a growing portfolio of community solar and battery storage projects across the state. This progress includes the Village Board’s unanimous approval of a 5 MW community solar facility and 20 MWh battery energy storage project in Lake in the Hills. Planned for an approximately 59-acre former quarry, the development marks Enterprise Energy’s first approved standalone battery project in Illinois. The battery system is expected to participate in the state’s Virtual Power Plant program, storing electricity when it is abundant and delivering it when demand increases. Enterprise Energy also worked closely with local officials and fire personnel to address safety, emergency response, equipment spacing, screening and noise.

Enterprise Energy’s Illinois portfolio also includes the 5 MW AC Mt. Zion Community Solar Project, which is expected to generate approximately 10 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, enough to serve an estimated 1,200 homes and reduce carbon emissions by nearly 4,000 metric tons each year. A significant portion of its capacity will serve low and moderate income subscribers. As Illinois implements the Clean and Reliable Grid Affordability Act and works toward its goal of adding 3,000 MW of battery storage by 2030, Enterprise Energy is positioned to continue expanding its solar and storage pipeline in partnership with property owners, communities and local governments.
